China - Zhejiang Power Development Project, Zhejiang Province, World Bank |
As part of the Zhejiang Power Development Project, ZPEPC needed to acquire technology to strengthen their capability in designing cost-effective electricity transmission and distribution systems. One of the components we were engaged to research was the implementation of a geographic information system (GIS), and a GIS Implementation Master Plan was developed. Included in the Master Plan requirements were: |
w |
A user requirements study |
w |
Organisation structure requirements and changes |
w |
Definition of map standards and contents |
w |
Review of current and proposed Information Systems to be integrated with the GIS |
w |
Defining application and system functions |
w |
Specifying the system configuration |
w |
Data collection requirements and methods |
w |
A system implementation plan, including a cost/benefit justification |

China - Jinan Water Supply Project, Shandong Province, 1997-1998 |
M&E was commissioned to prepare a technical due diligence report for selected water treatment plants at Jinan City in Shandong Province in 1997. Currently the city is served by 10 nos. water treatment plants, which have a total design capacity of 880,000 m3/day. The first and the latest plants were commissioned in 1964 and in 1989 respectively. |
The technical due diligence study covered 7 nos. water treatment plants. These plants have a total production capacity of 785,000 m3/day, which represents over 98% of the city's water production. Field inspection and technical assessment of 7 nos. water treatment plants were carried out. The assessment provided technical opinions of the state and condition of the raw water intake pump stations, water treatment plants and reservoirs; recommended annual maintenance programmes and the repair and overhaul plans with budget estimates for short, medium and long term improvement. |

China - Shenyang Water Treatment Plants Assessment Project, Liaoning Province, 1998-1999 |
M&E conducted technical assessment on 10 water treatment plants in Shenyang. The plants provide over 1.8 million m3/day and this accounts for more than 85% of the total water production in Shenyang city. The largest single plant production is 490,000m3/day. The study provided engineering reviews of the state and condition of raw water intake pump houses and water plants. The recommendation and associated budget estimates were made for the annual maintenance programs and the repair and overhaul plans. |
China - Guangzhou Water Treatment Plants Project, 1997 |
M&E provided technical assistance and assessment to four water treatment plants with the total capacities of over 2 million m3/day. The services M&E provided included site visit, engineering review on the water treatment plants, recommendation on operation and maintenance, comments on the upgrade and expansion plan proposed by the clients and review on the preliminary design conducted by the local designing institutes. The recommendation on the institutional development and financial strengthening was prepared. |

China - Yantai Water Treatment Plant BOT Project, Shandong Province, 2002-2003 |
M&E was commissioned to prepare a tender design for the proposed BOT water treatment plant. The design included the treatment process, mechanical and electrical equipment and control equipment, structures and other civil works. During the design preparation, the site visit was conducted and local design code and standards were applied. |

China - Yangsi Water Treatment Plant Relocation, Shanghai, 2002-2003, Shanghai Pudong Vivendi Water Supply Corporation |
The purpose of this assignment was to develop cost opinion of constructing a new plant to replace an existing water treatment plant of 250,000 m3/d. capacity at Yangsi, Shanghai. The Yangsi water treatment plant was operated under a 50-year concession for the Pudong developments. The existing plant needed to be relocated to make available its site for the construction of new Universal Studio at Pudong. The services M& E provided included conducted field investigation of the existing facilities; carried out review of construction costs of similar water treatment plants; developed preliminary layout and equipment sizing including review of geotechnical information and foundation requirements; prepared project cost estimates; provided technical support to clients during discussions with local design institute and asset evaluation consultants. |
China - Gateway Wastewater Treatment Plant, Shanghai, 1996-1997 |
Working with a local design institute, M&E engineers adopted a compact fixed film/activated sludge treatment process to minimize the footprint of the plant. The two plants were located underneath the main commercial developments. The services provided included overall project management; coordinated subconsultants including a local design institute; prepared tender drawings and specifications and carried out tender assessment; provided engineering services during construction including checking of contractor's E&M submissions; carried out process commissioning and prepared O&M manual |
