Condition Survey on Shing Mun Catchwaters and Associated Slopes

Maunsell AECOM (MCAL) has been appointed by Water Supplies Department (WSD) to provide consultancy services for the Condition Survey on Shing Mun Catchwaters and Associated Slopes.

Shing Mun catchwaters were built in 1930s. The conditions of some of the catchwaters and their adjoining slopes have shown signs of deterioration due to aging and torrential rain. Condition survey will be carried out to the catchwaters, associated deckings and bridges and the uphill and downhill slopes within the area maintained by the Water Supplies Department and other parties to ascertain the conditions of the channels and slopes.

Through the Assignment, we will:

  • •Carry out the condition survey to examine the condition of about 9km long Shing Mun catchwaters including about 9 km of channel structures, overflow weirs, 16 associated deckings and bridges and associated structures.
  • Conduct Engineer inspections for Maintenance for the 172 man-made slopes adjoining the catchwaters.
  • Identify the improvement works to the catchwaters and slopes.
  • Establish an implementation strategy for the improvement works.
